After about a century of military use, first from the German, since 1945 from the US Army, the Leighton Area was left by the last US soldier in September 2008. It's amazing to walk throught the silent streets of the huge Ghost Town with it's shopping mall, chapel, Burger King, gas station, Highschool etc. located on a hill above the city of Würzburg. I hope I can bring you some of the feelings with these pictures ...
